Consultation has concluded

The Abbotsford Board of Education is exploring the possibility of consolidating its administrative and ancillary educational services into one facility. This project would streamline operations, enhance collaboration, and generate cost savings for the school district, aligning with our commitment to optimized resources as part of our Strategic Plan.

Current Facilities Under Review

Our administrative and educational support services are currently spread across three separate locations:

  1. School Board Office (SBO): This office houses district administrative services such as the Board, Finance, HR, International, and Purchasing.
  2. Centre of Resources for Education (CORE): This is the home of the curriculum department and learning support services/special education.
  3. Information Technology Centre (ITC): Provides district information technology services.

Continuing to operate these separate facilities not only leads to increased operational costs but it detracts from the efficiency and cohesiveness of administrative functions.

Strategic Consolidation

The Board has identified this consolidation as a high priority in the 2019-2020 Long Range Facilities Plan, which is currently being updated in conjunction with the Board’s 2024 Strategic Plan. The proposed plan involves relocating CORE and ITC with the existing School Board Office site, where there is sufficient space for an addition to the existing building.

The scope of this addition/renovation project is currently being determined.
